Optimizations & Future

It seems like almost an entire year has passed since the initial release of Darkening, and admittedly, not much has been done with this game since. In this post, I'd like to generally talk about the future of this game, since it's been on my mind recently. First off, I think It'd be wise to take much of this with a grain of salt, since I'm still not entirely sure on all of this.

Initially, during the start of this summer, I was planning a "sequel" of sorts to this game, which ended up seeming more like a remaster. However, the ideas for that game started to steer into a direction which would've made the development for it pretty much years long, and for whatever reason I didn't like the idea of starting a new game from completely nothing. All of that resulted in me opening back up this old project and coming up with ideas on how to improve and build off of this already made game instead.

And so far, I have many ideas on improvements and new features that are feasible to add. So hopefully in the near future (mainly this summer), Darkening will receive some much needed changes and new features (heat mechanic removal, better interaction prompts, better visuals, etc).

Finally, today I released an update to the game to hopefully kickstart these changes. The update includes some general performance improvements, and some minor tweaks to player movement.
